Inside the Link2 is a chip from ESS Technology, called the ESS9118EC. This high-performance decoding chip is able to playback PCM audio at 32-bit and 384kHz, as well as decode DSD256. For proper contrast, smartphones can only get as high as 16-bit at 48kHz.
