INTRODUCITON:
KZ, the brand which needs no introduction since most of our Audiophile journey began from this brand. Known for their ultra budget and mid-tier releases, KZ has been in this field for a very long time. This is the brand that never failed to improvise from their predecessors and today in our hands is the KZ TAURUS.

Taurus has the usual transparent ABS Plastic build that feels light weight and comfortable on ears. Not the flashiest build but has a nice smooth finish to it. The face plate has a small vent to it but not sure about the actual functionality of being a semi open back though. The stock cable and the ear tips are the generic KZ one’s.
SOUND IMPRESSIONS:
Overall Signature: Neutral Bright
BASS PROFILE:
- For a neutral tuning, the Taurus exhibits a cleaner bass response with Sub bass emphasis.
- The sub bass hits when its called and does provide those subtle rumbles that lingers in the ears.
- Mid bass has thin note weight making the presentation less full but never lacks in the dynamic factor
- Taurus has a faster attack and decay leaving no room for congestion with clear distinction between sub and mid bass sections.
MID SECTION:
- Taurus presents a forward mid-section with natural tone and timbre.
- Mid -section appears cleaner and thanks to the low-profile mid bass.
- Lower mid-section might appear a bit thin but that doesn’t affect the male vocals where they sounded rich enough.
- Upper mid-section is noticeably elevated paving way for the female vocals to shine.
- The lighter weight made the mid-section appear less meaty and lush.
For: To those who likes a forward, engaging, lighter and natural midsection. Though the lush factor’s lacking, no compromise was seen in the overall dynamism.
TREBLE:
- The treble is extended well in a controlled fashion that keeps the sibilance under control.
- The lighter sound profile gave this Taurus the needed energy, brightness and air.
- The high hats and cymbal crashes feels precise with proper attack and decay.
- Percussion instruments shines with rich tone and proper placement in the presentation.
TECHNICAL ASPECTS:
- Taurus got a massive stage width that allows the instruments to sweeps nicely from extreme left to the extreme right.
- The notes with varied weights are nicely layered out and precise placement of instruments has been observed throughout the presentation.
- Detail retrieval is above average for the price, extracting essential nuances out of the tracks.

VERDICT:
Taurus, a new inventory from the house of KZ awestruck me with its unusual route of sound. The 8mm Dual Dynamic Driver is aligned horizontally which again is unusual in this segment. The initial thought that struck me considering the Dual DD setup from the house of KZ was “It’s going to be the same old bass heavy generic signature!” Surprisingly, the brand pulled out a magic this time.
The whole construction is made out of resin plastic and do available in various shades namely transparent and smoke. The vented grill was seen over the faceplate but not sure about the actual functionality of being semi open back. The usual stock cable and the ear tips are provided along with the generic KZ’s box pack.
A neutral bright signature coming out of the house of KZ is worth the applause. Being a neutral set, the bass profile can’t be complained. It’s more polite with sub bass impact over mid bass making them sound faster, cleaner and controlled. Mid-section is neatly brought out with forward presentation and natural tone. The elevation in upper mid-section gave the Taurus enough air and brightness. Trebles extended well in controlled fashion while keeping the energy under control and sibilance in mind. Technical chops are above average for its price representing a massive width in the stage with praise worthy layering.
The only gripe in the Taurus is that it sounds a bit leaner due to the toned-down mid bass section but being a neutral set, it’s tuned well.
KZ is improvising continuously with their new releases. The brand which once focussed on mass signature is now grabbing the attention of all genre listeners. Taurus, the UNCOLOURED offering priced at 25USD is for the one who likes basic platter that keeps things simple and functional without any toppings.
