Prelude:

I think we’ve been hearing a lot of good things about Earacoustic lately. I had the opportunity to present their flagship model, the SPA LTD. Today, it’s time for something completely different: headphones priced at only $19.99 and equipped with a single dynamic driver and a non-detachable cable. The Earacoustic Cipher, as I’m talking about them, are the result of a collaboration between Earacoustic and leading artists. My unit is equipped with a USB Type-C port with its own DAC and a pretty solid microphone.

Unboxing and Ergonomics:
This is a pleasant part of this review, because I must admit that it’s rare to find headphones in this price range so elegantly packaged. We receive an elegant box, which welcomes us with a few thank-you notes. Next, we have an elegant black case, unfortunately made of soft material, which isn’t a drawback, but if you have to use a case, I definitely prefer hard material. Despite this, I must admit that the chosen case looks very elegant indeed. Additionally, we have three pairs of ear tips in sizes S, M, and L, as well as the headphones themselves. These are made of durable plastic and are available in a variety of pastel colors. Crystal accents on the front panel add elegance and originality to the design.

Sound:

Low frequencies:

In this case, the Earacoustic cipher focuses on a light and pleasant bass foundation. It offers a solid bass foundation, but it’s not overly dominant or overpowering. Instead, the low frequencies provide an excellent backdrop for the overall presentation. If someone is looking for a strong low-end punch, this is definitely not the best option. However, if your priority is calm and pleasant listening with a solid low-end foundation, the Earacoustic cipher will be an excellent choice. The sound will certainly satisfy anyone who enjoys calm and natural listening without overly pumped-up bass. You can count on the presence of low frequencies, but not in a dominant or overly prominent way; these headphones are designed for lovers of vocals, rather than strong, dominant bass. This is by no means a drawback, but rather a huge advantage, promising solid transparency of the sound itself.

Mid frequencies:

The Earacoustic cipher definitely favors the mid-range and vocals, putting them first. Thanks to their warm and very pleasant presentation, vocals are thrilling and will easily satisfy any lover of vocals and acoustic music. We can therefore expect a significant dose of emotion and a natural, direct presentation of the midrange. This is a very good approach and excellent tuning, offering excellent transparency in the midrange. If, like me, someone is looking for a transparent and emotional midrange, the Earacoustic Cipher is certainly an excellent choice, offering very good resolution for its price range. However, if someone dislikes the favored midrange, they should be aware that the Earacoustic Cipher definitely emphasizes its close presence. This is also consistent with headphones made in collaboration with a leading vocalist.

Treble:

Care has been taken to properly smooth out the treble and soften it. Headphones can often struggle with such a strong midrange exposure, but the Earacoustic Cipher is fortunately not an example of this. The emphasis has also been placed on a fairly good soundstage and a significant amount of information conveyed in the sound. Despite being softened, the highs are subtly brightened, which preserves the purity of the presentation and clarity of the sound. The sound is truly well-developed, and thanks to the appropriate tuning, the overall sound is more spacious and concert-like. Live concert enthusiasts and fans of contemporary popular music will certainly appreciate this. The overall sound remains coherent and presents the individual instruments very well, so I consider this an excellent approach to tuning. It’s not just another tiring signature; instead, it focuses on entertainment and very good versatility during long listening sessions.

Summary:

Earacoustic Cipher are headphones that take women’s needs into account; they were designed by a woman and a singer. This translates into beautiful designs tailored to women’s needs. In my opinion, this is an excellent move, as the market simply lacks such products. The USB-C version supports high-resolution file formats, offering clear and very consistent sound. Earacoustic Cipher are headphones dedicated to lovers of midrange and vocals, resulting in clear and very vibrant sound. Excellent build quality and excellent accessories have also been considered. Earacoustic Cipher are headphones that not only look great but also provide excellent vocal tuning, which I really appreciated. However, I would definitely prefer the headphones to have a detachable cable; it doesn’t generate significant costs and significantly improves their durability. I would prefer them to cost a little more but offer this feature.

Earacoustic Cipher’s strengths:

  • Great price.
  • Very well-made.
  • Vocal and entertaining tuning.
  • Good accessories included. – Very good acoustic damping.

What I would improve about the Earacoustic cipher:

  • I missed the detachable cable, and even at this price, I consider that a drawback.
  • I missed the foam tips.
