TinHifi is not unfamiliar name to many ear, an established chi-fi brand, their first IEM T2 was released in 2017, this brand is famous for its tuning and has its own characteristics that emphasize clarity and brightness, C2 og was once one of my favorite budget IEMs, and is still relevant to this day despite many budget releases.. it has a good mild vshape sound, Tin released its sequel with a rather weird or unique name C2 2025 "one year ahead." can this imply that it's a step forward, but not necessarily a huge leap..

Non-sound aspects

The C2 2025 still offers the same packaging and contents as before, which include:

- IEM
- Cable
- Eartips
- Warranty and manual papers

The cable still feels a bit cheap, although I do notice a slight improvement compared to the original version. There's also no additional case, but considering it's in the budget range, this is understandable.

The Design remains the same as the original fierce mecha look. so to me, it doesn't provide the best fit and comfort, possibly due to it's more angular shape. The 2025 version now comes in two color options: Black (which is available in my unit) and Gunmetal. Additionally, there's now a DSP type variant as well.

The Sound

The C2 2025 has a Harman-ish tuning, with Low-end that sounds pleasant, though not particularly special. The focus is more on sub-bass, with good texture and decent depth for its price. However, the mid-bass feels a bit hollow and lacks weight, though it still delivers a nice thump with moderate decay. It sounds great for rock but isn’t ideal for metal, where it feels a bit behind

The Midrange here follows the typical Harman style: not very thick but more prominent in the upper mids. This makes it better suited for female vocals, where it excels. Male vocals and piano sound a bit lacking in body but not overly dry.

The Treble is safe here—not extremely extended but still airy. Guitars, particularly distorted ones, still sound good.

So, What’s Different Between the OG and the 2025 Version?

Let’s start with the bass. The 2025 has slightly more sub-bass compared to the OG, with better texture, though the mid-bass remains similar. The vocals in the 2025 are less dry compared to the OG, and they have a smoother quality with no sibilance now. However, the treble is less aggressive than the original, which may be disappointing for treble-heads who love good extension and bite. The 2025 version is smoother and not as extended, though it still has that airy quality.

Technically, there doesn’t seem to be any significant difference. The soundstage and imaging remain decent for its price.

Comparisons with Other Tin IEMs

Vs Tin T2 Mk2

The T2 Mk2 is one of Tin's underrated releases, with its characteristic bright tuning. The T2 Mk2 has extended, airy treble, while the C2 2025 treble lacks some bite. For treble-heads, I think the T2 Mk2 is a better choice. For those who are treble-sensitive, the 2025 a bit better it feel smoother. Vocals on the T2 Mk2 have a nice airy quality, especially for female vocals, while the C2 2025 feels a bit dry, though not as much as the original. In terms of bass, both are fairly same, though I think the T2 Mk2 has a slight edge in quality, while the C2 has a little more subbass depth.

Vs Tin C3

The C3 is a bit of an good anomaly for Tin release, as it’s not the typical bright sound but rather a warm Harman target tuning. It’s one of their best releases to me, with good bass texture that’s among the best in its class, making it ideal for rock or pop-funk like Paramore. The C2 bass, in comparison, lacks the same depth and texture. When it comes to vocals, the C3 performs better for male vocals, while the C2 is better for female vocals. For treble, the C2 is a bit more airy. Overall, I personally prefer the C3 slightly more.

Conclusion

Who benefits from this? The OG C2 was already a good IEM, despite the many budget IEM releases out there. If you don’t own the original, the 2025 is a solid choice, as it improves on what the OG version lacked. But if you already own the original, I think you can skip this one...it feels more like a side grade with no major improvements.

The 2025 does offer better bass and improvements in the upper mids, making it less piercing. As for treble, it depends on personal preference. me personally love the OG’s extended and bitey treble, but the 2025 version will suit more people, especially those who are sensitive to treble. The 2025 is certainly smoother than the original..
